Byhalia High School athletes received gold medals in four events at the recent Class 4A State Track and Field Meet. Jenkins takes over Marshall baseball By BARRY BURLESON Bart Jenkins believes toughness wins games and he’s bringing that philosophy to Marshall Academy as the school’s new baseball coach. He spent one year at MA in 2002-03 as an assistant and then left for head coaching positions at Starkville Academy and later Pillow Academy, both bigger Class AAA schools. In three seasons at Starkville and three at Pillow, his teams won at least 20 games each year and were always in the playoffs, finishing as state runners-up twice. Behind The Scoreboard NBA action There is a good reason if some of us NBA followers are getting a bit edgy at this point in the playoffs. What looked like easy wraps in some corners appear to have taken a down turn. A great for instance is in the Eastern Conference journey. The Magic worked a bit of it and pulled within one game with their performance in game five. Kirkwood hosts Lewis Clark Memorial Thirty-six players participated in the Lewis Clark Sr. Memorial Invitational held at Kirkwood National Golf Club, Holly Springs, on May 22-23. The tournament was held in honor of Clark, who passed away last November. Prizes were awarded to winners in four divisions for this two-day tournament.
