Election Tuesday By BARRY BURLESON Editor The
Republican Primary for the U.S. House of Representatives 1st
Congressional District will be held next Tuesday, June 1. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Three Republicans are seeking their party’s nomination next week – Angela McGlowan, Alan Nunnelee and Henry Ross. The
winner will face Democratic incumbent Travis Childers in the general
election in November, along with Gail Giaranita of the Constitution
Party, Harold Taylor (Libertarian), Barbara Dale Washer (Reform), and
Independents A.G. Baddley, Les Green, Rick “Rico” Hoskins and Wally Pang The
deadline for registering to vote in the Republican Primary has already
passed, but citizens can register to vote at any time during regular
office hours at the circuit clerk’s office at the Marshall County
Courthouse. Absentee voting for the June 1
primary is available now in person at the circuit clerk’s office, which
will be open for absentee balloting on Saturday, May 29, from 8 a.m. to
12 noon. Call the Marshall County circuit clerk’s office at 662-252-3434 for any other election information. NOTICE
– Due to an emergency situation, voting in the 5 South Holly Springs
Precinct (National Guard Armory) for the Republican Primary Election
next Tuesday, June 1, will be held at the Shriners Building located at
957 Highway 4 East in Holly Springs.
