Republican primary June 1
By SUE WATSON
Two candidates for the First District U.S. House of Representatives seat visited Holly Springs last week.
Incumbent Democratic candidate Travis Childers was in town to meet the electorate and also made a short presentation. The reception was held at Courtroom B on the square and was attended by close to 100 citizens.
Henry Ross, candidate for the Republican Primary race for the U.S. House of Representatives June 1, was in Holly Springs last Thursday visiting businesses on his “Main Street Tour” – a 750-mile, four-day marathon that took him to 30 cities in the First Congressional District.
Three Republicans vie for their party’s nomination on Tuesday, June 1 – Angela McGlowan, Alan Nunnelee and Henry Ross.
Childers is unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
The deadline for registering to vote in the Republican Primary race has already passed, but citizens can register to vote at any time during regular office hours at the circuit clerk’s office at the Marshall County Courthouse.
