Potts Camp teams eased to 53- and 27-point wins Monday, Jan. 4, at home. The Lady Cardinals routed Falkner 77-24 in the night’s opener. It was no contest from the start. Potts Camp was up 30-6 after one quarter. Five

Davis with 10. The Potts Camp boys coasted to a 74-47 win over the Eagles in the nightcap. The Cardinals led by just three after one period but used a strong second quarter to pull ahead 36-21 at the half. LaDarrius Beard poured in 16 points for Potts Camp. gate, building a 29-7 first-quarter lead, and rolling to the big 79-47

“Everybody played
in both games (last week) and it’s good when we get that opportunity,”
she said. “The girls were pumped up and ready to get back on track
(after the season’s first two losses in the “Battle of the Best” at
Pontotoc).” Kayla Kolivas had 10 points for the Lady Rebels. The Potts Camp boys led a first-half advantage slip away and fell 56-51 to the Rebels. The
Cardinals were up 16-9 after one period and 22-21 at the half. But
Hickory Flat took control in the third and held on in the fourth. Potts
Camp season mark went to 9-7. “We came out strong
and went flat in the third quarter,” said Matt Horton, head coach of
the Cardinals. “We tried to rally in the fourth but came up short. The
game was actually tied with 1:40 left, but we led it slip away. We
played real hard down the stretch.” Beard poured in 21 for Potts Camp. Falkner and Allen Robinson added 12 and 10, respectively. Top scorers for Hickory Flat were Caleb Van Tassell with 24 and Timothy Tatum with 10. Potts
Camp teams were scheduled to visit county rival Byers Friday. Those
games were postponed due to the snow and ice, and they will be played
this Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. The Cardinals
and Lady Cardinals hosted Myrtle Tuesday. They host Ashland this Friday
