Joshua Michael Dague
Joshua Michael Dague, 25, of Bethlehem, died Jan. 7, 2010 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Winborn United Methodist Church and a construction worker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Brownie Tohill officiated.
He leaves his wife, Lacey Rooker; three sons, Landon Dague, Jackson Dague, Rylan Dague, all of Bethlehem; his father, Boyd Dague of Salida, Co.; his mother, Tracy Huey of Waterford; a brother, Michael Travis Huber of Los Almos, Co.; his grandfather, Harold Bergin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and his great-grandfather, Michael Joseph Trella of Lynchburg, Va.
Lawrence Edward Delbridge
Lawrence Edward Delbridge, 51, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 4, 2010 at his home. He was disabled and a construction worker with Anderson Construction Company.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 9 at St. Mark MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in Charity Hill Cemetery. Rev. Dewitt Glover officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Mattie Galloway Hoskins of Holly Springs; two sisters, Izonia Delbridge, Janice Delbridge, both of Holly Springs; three brothers, Marvin Delbridge Jr., Howard Delbridge, both of Holly Springs, George Delbridge of Red Banks.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Delbridge.
Pallbearers were James Franklin Mayfield Jr., Lewis Boga, Prentiss Mayfield and Brian Mayfield. Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Delbridge Jr., Marquell Delbridge, Marvin D. Delbridge and Cortez Delbridge.
Michael William Fields
Michael William Fields, 30, of Southaven, died Jan. 6, 2010 at his home.
Services were held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Burial was in Bethlehem Presbyterian Cemetery in Southaven. Bro. Oscar Geezlin officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his father, Ronald Burton Fields Jr. of Jackson, Tenn.; his mother, Linda and Charles Cooke of Southaven; two brothers, Jim Cooke, David Cooke, both of Independence; two sisters, Dawn Mallard of Brighton, Tenn., Stacy Fields of Olive Branch; and his grandmother, Hazel Parks of Olive Branch.
Virginia Alexander Glover
Virginia Alexander Glover, 97, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 6, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Mack Glover and a church mother.
Services were held at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church in Hudsonville, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Glover officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves six daughters, Ola Mae Hampton, Janie Kimbrough, Irene Riddle, Minnie Hampton, Carrie Thompson, Josiephine Washington, all of Holly Springs; two sons, Mack Glover Jr. of Holly Springs, Frank Edward Glover of Miami, Fla.; a brother, Dempsey Alexander Jr. of Holly Springs; 33 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Riddle, Roger Kimbrough, Jason Thompson, Eugene Hampton Jr., Hazel Riddle, Dennis Kimbrough, Lee Glover and Edrick Glover. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Riddle, Jeremiah Hampton, Lee Glover and David Hampton.
Biron William Hailey
Biron William Hailey, 48, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 4, 2010 at his home. He was Pentecostal and a truck driver.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rice Chapel. Bro. Steve Wilson and Bro. Frank Feathers officiated.
He leaves his wife, Janice Hailey; his father, Bill Hailey of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Evie Hunter of Holly Springs; his daughter, Sarah Hailey of Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Joe Hailey of Lamar, Wayne Bumpus of Hickory Flat, Michael Stanton of Holly Springs; three sisters, Charlotte Frayser of Hinesville, Ga., Christina Watkins of McRae, Ark., Katye Vogt of Vidalia, Ga.
Frances A. Hathorne, 86, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 8. She was the widow of Johnny M. Hathorne. After graduating from B.F. Ford High School in 1942, she attained her business degree from Rust College in 1946. She continued her studies at Hampton Institute in Hampton, Va. She was one of the six charter members of the Zeta Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in 1966. She held many positions for 63 years at Rust College. She was also an accountant and bookkeeper at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in the early 1940s, where she held many positions, including youth coordinator and president of the United Methodist Women. Other achievements and accomplishments include lifetime member, regional treasurer, state president and national treasurer of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority; first black conference treasurer for the United Methodist Church; first black district treasurer for the United Methodist Church; chairperson for the Marshall County Relay for Life; National American Legion; NAACP member, Marshall County Chapter; Mary Kay consultant; chairman of Earnest A. Smith Lecture Series; Alumni Artist Lecture Series; chairman of the annual UNCF for Marshall County; Holly Springs/Marshall County Rust Club; Chamber of Commerce; Rust College Board of Trustees; longest working employee for Rust College; Mace carrier for Rust College; grand marshal for Holly Springs Christmas Parade 2008; and Women of Distinction, DeSoto County.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 16 at Rust Doxey Auditorium. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Fred H. Brown will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Alan Maurice Hathorne Esq.; daughter, Maureen Denise Hubbard-Jones; two sisters, Thelma Pugh Martin of Milwaukee, Wisc., Shirley King of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Eddie Allen of Red Hill; and nine grandchildren; and 11 godchildren
She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Allen Sr.; sister, Erintene Allen; and best friend, Marjorie B. Marshall.
Roddrick Leelton Isom
Roddrick Leelton Isom, 9, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 5, 2010 in Holly Springs. He was a member of Victoria Church of Christ, a member of Hernando Road Church of Christ, and a fourth grade student at Holly Springs Intermediate School where he played basketball. He played football and the drums. He wanted to be a police officer.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 at Rust College Doxey Auditorium. Burial was in Hernando Road Church of Christ Cemetery. Bro. David Jackson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, R.L. and Joyce Douglas Isom of Holly Springs; a sister, LaTasha Isom of Holly Springs; a brother, R.L. Isom Jr. of Holly Springs; grandmothers, Ada Lee Isom of Holly Springs, Regina Douglas of Bolivar, Tenn.; grandfathers, A.C. Douglas Sr. of Brownsville, Tenn.; and great-grandmother, Cardell Peters of St. Paul, Minn.

Christine McCandless, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, died Jan. 5, 2010 at Alliance HealthCare. She was the widow of Charles McCandless. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a Marshall County courthouse clerk.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Bro. Don Labelle and Bro. Gerald Hodges officiated.
She leaves her daughter, Linda Sharp of Lamar; two brothers, Joe Wright of Calhoun City, Jerome Wright of Louisville; a sister, Elsie Raye Francisco of Red Creek, NY; three granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Meter Rivers Curry McGhee
Meter Rivers Curry McGhee, 48, of Olive Branch, formerly of Waterford, died Jan. 4, 2010 in Byhalia. She was the widow of John Henry McGhee. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and disabled.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 9 at St. John MB Church in Memphis, Tenn., where she was a member. Rev. James E. Delaney officiated. Burial was in Wilkins Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Waterford. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Shevita McGaughey of Olive Branch, Shaquita Curry of Byhalia, Kimberly Nicole Williams of Holly Springs; two sons, Marcell Curry of Byhalia, Michael Curry of Holly Springs; two sisters, Bernice Turnage, Janice Robinson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, M.L. Curry.
Nathaniel McKinney, 69, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 6, 2010 at his home. He was a member of Adolphus Chapel CME Church and a retired factory worker and machine operator.
Services were held at 12 noon on Jan. 11 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Willie Hoey officiated.
He leaves 12 children, Willie Mae Jeffries, Gloria Jean Byers, Loria Perkins, Brenda Wyatt, Nancy Jones, Valerie Perkins, all of Holly Springs, Johnnie Marie Williams, Darlene Stevenson, both of Memphis, Tenn., Grady Lee McKinney, Tyrone Cancer, Linda Cancer, all of Albany, NY, Jimmy Lee Perkins of Indianapolis, Ind.; six sisters, Theresa Mosby of Aurora, Ill., Bonnie Mitchell of Batavia, Ill., Amanda Porter, Annette Aldridge, Osceola Wells, Sandra Fay McKinney, all of Holly Springs; two brothers, Chester McKinney Jr. of Aurora, Ill., Will Ellis McKinney of Lancaster, Calif.; and three adopted sisters, Carolyn Richmond of Aurora, Ill., Burnette Clark, Genice Wooten, both of Memphis, Tenn.

Victoria Beatrice Michael
Victoria Beatrice Michael, 87, of Millington, Tenn., died Jan. 7, 2010 at her home. She was the widow of Pat Michael and a member of First Baptist Church of Millington.
Services were held at 12 noon on Jan. 11 at Lebanon Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Andy Sims officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four sons, Billy Michael of Holly Springs, Tommy Michael, Steve Michael, Rick Michael, all of Millington, Tenn.; two daughters, Patsy Tobias of Shelby Forest, Tenn., Jo Ann Jackson of Holly Springs; a brother, Horace Montgomery of Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jackie Michael and William Betz.
Bobby Lynn Watkins
Bobby Lynn (100 Watt) Watkins, 69, of Waterford, died Jan. 10, 2010 at Oxford Baptist Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Springs, an electrician and plumber.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Danny Smithey officiated.
He leaves his wife, Evelyn Watkins; his mother, Geraldine Watkins of Waterford; his son, Michael Watkins of Oxford; two daughters, Teresa Huey of Potts Camp, Brittany Gray of Waterford; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Callie Lawson (Tootsie).
