NAACP plans
breakfast Monday to honor King
The
Marshall County Branch of the NAACP will sponsor its annual
commemoration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A birthday
breakfast is set Monday, Jan. 18, which is the legal holiday.
The
breakfast will be held at Chulahoma Missionary Baptist Church, 5509
Highway 4 West, in Holly Springs, beginning at 9 a.m. Everyone is
invited to attend. For additional information, contact Agnes Foster or

County Fair
Association sets annual meeting
The
Marshall County Fair Association will hold its annual membership
meeting on Monday, Jan. 25.
The
meeting will be held at the fairgrounds, on Highway 7 North, in the
cattle building and will begin at 7 p.m.
All
interested in the fairgrounds are encouraged to attend. Come out and
meet your district representative. All members are urged to attend, as
well.
Many
important decisions for the upcoming year are made at this meeting.
Fund-raiser
Friday at Multi-Purpose Building
There
will be a fund-raiser for Patricia Selman this Friday, Jan. 15.
It
will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eddie L. Smith Multi-Purpose
Building in Holly Springs. Barbecue plates will be served for $8 each.

Offices,
schools closing for holiday Monday
Town,
city and county offices, as well as local schools, will be closed
Monday, Jan. 18, in commemoration of the birthday of Martin Luther King
Jr. Local banks and post offices will also be closed.
All
offices will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 19, and schools will be back in
session. The Marshall County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday,
January 19, at 9 a.m. in the board room next door to the tax offices in
Holly Springs.
Heaton steps
down from chamber position
Amy
Heaton, executive director of the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce,
has resigned her position.
The
chamber’s board of directors met Monday concerning the vacancy. More
meetings are scheduled as they focus on moving the organization forward.
Lisa
Liddy is assisting in the chamber office during the interim period.
