 | Bringing home the trophies
The
Potts Camp girls and boys track teams, coached by Karen Green and
assistants Courtney Dauwalter and Michael Bush, won first place in the
division meet April 19 and first place in the regionals April 30, both
meets held at Byhalia. They then placed second in the North State Track
and Field Meet held last Saturday at Tupelo. Many Lady Cardinals and
Cardinals advance to the State Track and Field Meet this weekend in
Jackson. |
MA golfers go to state The Marshall Academy
golf team, entering the 2010 campaign, returned four key players from
last year’s team that finished second in the North State AA and fourth

Byhalia athletes place in top four at regionals Byhalia
High School athletes had a strong showing in the Region 1-4A Track and
Field Meet April 30 at Pontotoc, including four first-place finishes. Full Story
Killer Kudzu set for Saturday It’s time for the Killer Kudzu. The annual 5K is set for this Saturday, May 15, starting at 9 a.m. It begins and ends on the courtsquare in Holly Springs. Full Story
Behind The Scoreboard By Claude Vinson Playoff madness The NBA playoffs blasted into the second round with few surprises. As
alluded to last week, the NBA sends the best 16 of the 30. And, also as
pointed out last week, hitching your wagon to the shining star of the
Cleveland Cavaliers wouldn’t be a bad bet. True, they are currently
locked in a do or die battle with the Boston Celtics to see who or
which will forge the way to meet the best of the West. If memory
serves, this road is not at all dissimilar to the one taken last season. Full Story
Holly High scrimmage Friday Friday, May 14, is “Hawk Pride Day” at Holly Springs High School, ending with spring football that evening. The
“Black and Gold Game” will start at 6 p.m. in the stadium at Sam
Coopwood Park, weather permitting. There will be a $3 admission charge.
In case of inclement weather, it will be moved to either Monday or
Tuesday of next week, May 17 or 18. Full Story
James signs with BMC By BARRY BURLESON Editor It was indeed a happy birthday for Parker James. The
standout pitcher and outfielder at Marshall Academy signed a baseball
grant-in-aid with Blue Mountain College on Monday, May 3. Full Story
Gibson inks with Northwest By BARRY BURLESON Editor Casey
Gibson has started on the softball field at Marshall Academy since the
sixth grade. Last Thursday the senior signed a fast-pitch scholarship
with Northwest Community College. Full Story

The
Marshall Academy 4x100 relay team recently placed first in the
Mississippi Association of Independent Schools State Track and Field
