High School athletes had a strong showing in the Region 1-4A Track and
Field Meet April 30 at Pontotoc, including four first-place finishes. Those finishing in the top four at regional events moved on to Class 4A North State this past weekend. The top Lady Indians and Indians from the regional meet follow. Lady Indians • 100 meter hurdles – second, Megan Rayford, 16.81. • 4x100 meter relay – second, Erica Bougard, Latara Jones, Megan Rayford, Briana Wells, 51.27. • 4x200 meter relay – first, Erica Bougard, Latara Jones, Megan Rayford, Briana Wells, 1:47.78. • 4x400 meter relay – fourth, Destiny Jones, Amber Kimbrough, Quanesha Grayson, Latrese Akins, 4:38.87. • Long jump – third, Erica Bougard, 17-07. • Triple jump – third, Latrese Akins, 30-10.50; fourth, Trueshun Joyner, 30-07. • Discus – fourth, Crystal Rayford, 77-04.
