Marshall County luckily dodged the bullet over the weekend. Tornadic-force
winds killed four in neighboring counties, but Marshall County was
spared – sustaining mostly heavy rains and flooding. One person was
killed in Lafayette County, two in Benton and one in Union, according

Byhalia chamber busy with activities • Publicity push ongoing By SUE WATSON Staff Writer The Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce now has a page on Facebook. Executive
director Sarah Sawyer, during the quarterly luncheon last Thursday,
announced the new addition to the chamber’s way of broadcasting its
news and pictures. The luncheon was held at Trinity Mission Health and

Sawyer, executive director of the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce,
said the chamber is working with the mayor and board aldermen to hold

students in grades 7-12 in Marshall County can go to a free,
extended-year summer program provided by Ole Miss and Mississippi
Teacher Corps, according to Germain McConnell, assistant dean of the

Board honors Bobby Hall Marshall County
supervisors dedicated Monday’s board meeting to the memory of Bobby
Hall, father of Larry Hall, county administrator. Bobby Hall died Monday morning of a heart attack, supervisors were told.
Annual health fair May 13 This year marks the
10th anniversary of the Eddie L. Smith Community Health Fair in Holly
Springs. As in recent years, this year’s event will be held in the
Multi-Purpose Building on Memphis Street. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2
