Third-place toss

The Marshall Academy Patriots claimed the second-place trophy last week at the District 1-AA Track Meet in Clarksdale.

The MA boys totaled 86 points. Indianola Academy took the district crown with 104 points. North Delta was third with 55.

Several Patriots, who finished in the top four at district, advance to this week’s North State Meet, it, too, being held on the campus of Lee Academy. A couple of Lady Patriots are also moving on.

District 1-AA results

• Shot put, first, John Tomlinson, 41-5; fourth, Davis Kelly; 35-1.

• Pole vault, first, Tyler Childers, 9-0.

• Discus, third, Kelly, 97-5.5.

• Long jump, second, Joey Brock, 19-5; fourth, Elgin Lafever, 18-4.5.

• Long jump (girls), third, Callie Clanton, 14-2.

Triple jump

• 110 meter hurdles, second, Tomlinson, 17.81; fifth, Burleson, 20.01.

• 100 meter dash, first, Childers, 11.82; second, Owens, 11.98.

• 1600 meter run, fifth, Davis, 6:02.75.
