Lady Cards win five of six Last week found the
Potts Camp Lady Cardinals hosting games Thursday and Friday and then
Saturday they took to the road for the day. Thursday afternoon H.W. Byers came to Cardinal country for a doubleheader. Taking
the mound for the Lady Cardinals in both games was Kayla Yarbrough with
Jasmine Houston and Megan Watkins catching. Both games were called
after the third innings. Potts Camp won the first
game 16-0 over the Lady Lions. Scoring were Houston (3), Yarbrough (3),
Ashton Gandy (3), Alaken McNeer (1), Hailey Davis (2), Kaitlyn Skelton
(1), Hannah Goolsby (2) and Christine Harris (1). Yarbrough ended the
first game with six strikeouts. Potts Camp coasted to a 22-1 win in the nightcap. Scoring
for the Lady Cards were Houston (2), Yarbrough (3), Megan Watkins (2),
A. Gandy (3), A. McNeer (2), H. Davis (2), Macy Watkins (3), Shauna
Haney (3), Shelby Davis (2). Yarbrough ended with six strikeouts in three innings of work. Friday
night the Lady Cardinals welcomed Ingomar to town. This was a division
game. The Lady Cardinals came to the field wanting a win and they
proved they could be successful. Pitching for the Lady Cards was
Yarbrough with Houston at catcher. The Lady Cards
came out playing good defense and offense. The Lady Falcons tried hard
for the win, but the Cardinals refused to let them have it. Potts Camp won 10-5. Scoring
for the Lady Cards were Houston (3), Yarbrough (3), Brianne Cheatwood
(1), Hannah Goolsby (2), and Shelby Davis (1). Yarbrough had 10
strikeouts. After the big win, some of the parents treated the girls to a victory dinner at Pizza Hut. Saturday
morning the Lady Cardinals hit the road to Independence for a morning
game. They were still upbeat from their victories Thursday and Friday
night and used the momentum to blank the Lady Wildcats 5-0. Yarbrough had seven strikeouts. Scoring for Potts Camp were Yarbrough, M. Watkins, A. Gandy, A. McNeer, and K. Skelton. Saturday afternoon the Lady Cards invaded Strayhorn for a doubleheader. The
first game found A. McNeer pitching and Megan Watkins catching the
first five innings. The last inning Yarbrough pitched and Houston
caught. Yarbrough had three strikeouts. Potts Camp fell 7-6. Scoring were Megan Watkins, Gandy, H. Davis, Macy Watkins, and S. Davis. The
Lady Cards carried the victory home, 4-0, in game two. Yarbrough took
to the mound with Houston catching. Yarbrough had 10 strikeouts. Scoring were Houston, H. Davis, S. Haney, and S. Davis. This week the Lady Cards face two division games versus Myrtle and West Union, plus a non-district contest at Tremont.
