Saturday I saw a little girl and her grandmother hunting Easter eggs in
the front yard. It did not seem to matter that it was a week late. When
you are 4, fun does not have to correspond with any particular date on
the calendar, and hiding and finding colorful eggs filled with candy is

 | Awarded Order of St. George
First
Lt. Battle Bell Ewing II (center, above) received the Order of St.
George from the U.S. Army recently. He is scheduled for deployment to
Afghanistan around April 20 and is a member of the 101st Airborne,
stationed out of Ft. Campbell, Ky. Battle, originally from Byhalia, is
the son of Bobby and Susan Bonds of Byhalia. He was also promoted to
captain after receiving the award. The Saint George Award, formally the
Order of Saint George Medallion, is the top award given to members of
the Army's mounted force by the United States Armor Association of the
United States Army. The United States Armor Association began its
awards program in 1986. It is named in honor of Saint George, who is
the patron of mounted warriors and is often depicted on horseback. The
Saint George Award program provides the mounted force with a way to
recognize outstanding performance. Recipients of the Saint George Award
must be members of the United States Armor Association and they must be
nominated by another qualified member. |
