County school board to meet April 13
The Marshall County Board of Education will meet for the April regular board meeting at Byhalia High School, 278 Highway 309 North.
The meeting is set for Tuesday, April 13, at 5 p.m.
Wicker guest speaker for museum opening
Sen. Roger Wicker will be the guest speaker for the “re-grand opening” of the Marshall County Historical Museum.
The ceremony is set for Saturday, April 17, at 11 a.m. during the annual Holly Springs Pilgrimage. It will include a ribbon cutting, tours of the museum and more activities.
Senator Wicker will give a short speech, commemorating the opening of the newly-remodeled museum.
Fly-In event Saturday benefits local school
Heritage Apostolic Church is holding a day of bluegrass and gospel music, food, fun and fellowship to raise money for Heritage Christian Academy.
The First Annual Fly-In is set for this Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Thomas airstrip on Highway 311.
Some of the festivities scheduled for the day are two bluegrass bands, a fly-in by various pilots, and a car and tractor show.
Food for the day will include a crawfish boil, pork chop sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers.
Pony rides and other activities will be offered for the children.
Byhalia police officers respond to 45 calls
The Byhalia Police Department responded to 45 calls during the past week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 5; motor vehicle accidents, 2, disturbances, 2; thefts, 1; escorts, 4; animal-related calls, 1; assists, 1; medical assistance, 6; fires, 6; miscellaneous calls, 16; damaged property, 1.
Byhalia police officers also made three arrests during the past week.
Pilgrimage section in next week’s paper
