The Marshall Academy Patriots upped their season mark to 10-3 during a busy five-game week. MA 3 North Delta 1 Patriot
senior Parker James struck out a career high nine batters en route to
his complete game effort as Marshall won its conference opener 3-1.
James (3-0) went all seven innings, walking none and allowing six hits.

Grand Slam concludes season By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The high school basketball season came to an end Saturday in the Big House. The
door on the season was slammed shut with the culmination of the Grand
Slam or more appropriately, the tournament of champions. This “third
season” in Mississippi hoops was first initiated back in 1951 and had a
31-year run before it went dormant. It was revived in 2007 with the
first two installments held at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo. In
2009 it was moved to the Big House (coliseum) in Jackson. Full Story |
