Patriots sweep North Delta
The Marshall Academy Patriots upped their season mark to 10-3 during a busy five-game week.
MA 3 North Delta 1Patriot senior Parker James struck out a career high nine batters en route to his complete game effort as Marshall won its conference opener 3-1. James (3-0) went all seven innings, walking none and allowing six hits.

And most of those were scored by the host Indians as they turned back the Cardinals 17-11 on the baseball diamond.
Hannah, Nabors receive all-conference honors

Two former Holly Springs Hawks earned all-conference honors in their final college basketball seasons - one first team and the other second.

The NCAA Selection Committee threw the final dart at its big selection board Sunday afternoon and set the stage for the men’s collegiate championship playoffs. The selection gurus admitted every team would not be elated with the final spread.
Grand Slam concludes season

The high school basketball season came to an end Saturday in the Big House.
The door on the season was slammed shut with the culmination of the Grand Slam or more appropriately, the tournament of champions. This “third season” in Mississippi hoops was first initiated back in 1951 and had a 31-year run before it went dormant. It was revived in 2007 with the first two installments held at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo. In 2009 it was moved to the Big House (coliseum) in Jackson.
