Hudsonville schedules clean-up Saturday

The Hudsonville community will conduct a spring clean-up day Saturday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Everyone is urged to come out and clean the roadsides in Hudsonville on Highway 313, Old Hudsonville Road, Holland Road and Russom Road. Meet at Hudsonville Community Center at 8 a.m. for coffee and doughnuts and pick up trash bags and supplies (bring your gloves). Participants can register for door prizes.

Autry indicted on Oxford murder charge

Bilethon Autry has been indicted in the shooting death of his brother, Charlie Ray Hodges, according to a report in the March 12 edition of The Oxford Eagle.

The indictment was handed down by the February grand jury in Lafayette County.

In September of last year, Autry held Oxford police officers at bay for three hours during a stand-off that left Hodges dead from a gunshot wound and his father, Billy Ray Autry, hiding in the attic of his Grand Oaks home in Oxford.

During the standoff, Autry fired shots at some of the police officers but missed, according to the report.

Autry was indicted on one charge of murder and one charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

He is being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center on no bond and awaiting trial.

The following report of last week’s activities of the Holly Springs Police Department was released by chief Robert Pearson.

March 8

• malicious mischief was reported in the 100 block of Brooks Road.

• domestic violence-simple assault was reported in the 100 block of Phillips Street.

• domestic violence-simple assault was reported in the 200 block of MLK Drive.

• petit larceny was reported in the 500 block of Van Dorn Avenue.

March 11

• malicious mischief was reported in the 100 block of Walthall.

• shoplifting was reported in the 100 block of West Street.

Officers reported additional activities – no driver's license, 2; driving while license suspended, 4; speeding, 3; no proof of insurance, 2; no/expired tag, 1; contempt of court, 6; disorderly conduct, 1; reckless driving, 1; and DUI first offense, 1.
