Academy hosted the Tracy Rodgers Memorial Tournament last week and
cruised through the double round robin with a 4-0 record. After
several years of not having the tournament, it was resurrected to pay
tribute to the former student athlete who attended the school from
1969-1979. Unfortunately, Rodgers was killed during his junior year in
a tragic car accident on October 13, 1979. A gifted athlete, he
participated in basketball, football, track and baseball at Marshall
Academy. Rodgers received all-conference awards in football and
baseball and was a member of the Beta Club. Full Story
Cards start 2-1 By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Potts Camp Cardinals, under new head coach Justin Weeden, are off to a 2-1 start on the baseball diamond. The Cardinals opened with a loss to Wheeler and then beat both Pine Grove and Houlka. All three games were played on the road. Full Story

euphoria of the Olympics at Vancouver has pretty much died down except
for a few vestiges of congratulations which are still coming in, like
for the U.S.A. hockey team taking a second place to our Canadian
neighbors. Maybe that is fitting since they were the hosts. Hey, a

Sign-up continues for softball, baseball The Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is registering for Dizzy Dean baseball and softball. The countywide league is for ages 3 to 16 (girls and boys). Register at Holly Springs City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, call 662-252-4807.
Hawk boosters meet Mondays The Holly Springs High School Football Booster Club is meeting every Monday at 6 p.m. in the library. Marcus Autry, new head coach of the Hawks, urges all Holly High supporters to get involved with the Booster Club.
Lady Cardinals begin season On Tuesday, March 2, the Potts Camp Lady Cardinal fast pitch softball team traveled to Olive Branch for the season opener. In spite of the bitter cold weather, both teams hit the field with excitement and anticipation. Full Story

Academy seniors Caleb Byrd, Jake Omedeo and Emily Burk played for the
North in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools All-Star
Basketball Games Saturday. All three are pictured in games from the
regular season. The South all-stars won the Classes AA-AAA boys game
88-86 and the Classes AA-AAA girls game 74-59. The all-star games,
which also included Class A boys and girls matchups won by the South,
were played on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton. |
