Faye
Sanders, a long-time supporter of Marshall Academy athletes and an
encourager of youth, is being honored by the 11th grade with a T-shirt
sale. The proceeds will go to the charity of her choice. John
Tomlinson and Lauralee Fant conceived the idea to both honor their
mentor since grade school and do some good. Sanders has been ill and
the two students thought of the project after visiting Ms. Faye while
she was in rehab. “Ms. Faye has always supported us in our games and she writes to us individually and gives personal guidence,” said Joey Omedeo. Fant
and Tomlinson have known Ms. Faye since first and second grades, and
since they have been in high school, Ms. Faye has sent them and all
athletes letters of encouragement, Fant said. When in good health, Sanders would have a seat in the stands and was a regular at away games as well as home games. “When
you think of her, I think she’s a true Christian,” said Fant, her
friend Tomlinson nodding in agreement. “She’s like the most Christian
person I know.” During their visit with Sanders in rehab, the topic of her health was never brought up. “She didn’t talk about herself,” Fant said. “She had her mind on helping others.” The
Pray Like Faye T-shirts are available at Marshall Academy for $15. The
Pray Like Faye logo is on the left front shoulder and Scripture, Joshua
1:9, with stained glass window artwork is on the back. “Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” For more information contact Marshall Academy at 252-3452.
