Paducah!
Yes,
it’s still the first week or so of January — but
— Jane and I have
already signed up for classes at the American Quilt Society quilt show
in Paducah, Ky., the last week of April.
For
those who don’t know — Jane, my boon traveling
companion, and I go to
the quilt show in Paducah every year. We began about seven or eight
years ago and now are probably similar to addicts — nearly
frantic
waiting for April to get here again!

I
may not like them, but I still give thanks for turnips
The
year 1957 was a great time to be four. As it happened, that was the
year I was deemed old enough to spend an extended vacation with my
grandparents in Memphis. It was probably four or five days, but to me
it was an eternity, and my grandparents, thrilled with the opportunity,
were set to cater to my every whim.

Letter To The
Editor
Re:
the litter issue:
Dear Editor,
This
letter is in support of the “Holly Springs is too pretty to
litter” article and letter in the paper recently.
I,
also, am appalled that people need to be reminded not to litter.
Believe me, it crosses all races. This is not a racial issue; it is an
environmental issue.
Every
morning I am greeted
with the night’s deposits of various beer cans, chip bags or
the fast
food sack of choice. Each evening after a day of work, there are more
trash items littering the lawn, sidewalks, and street; and stop signs
are especially popular dumping sites. The weekend littering is
ridiculous.
In
my opinion, littering shows utter
ignorance and a lack of respect to the beauty of our town, and to
God’s
green Earth. It is 2010 — why do we (Holly Springs) not get
it? Don’t
litter! Respect the beauty of our town — please.
