Area job fair
next Tuesday on Rust campus in Holly Springs
The
sixth annual Marshall-Benton Area Job Fair is scheduled for Tuesday,
March 3, at the McMillan Gym on the campus of Rust College.
Hours
are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Joe
Buckner, director of the Governor’s Job Fair Network, said two things
will make the event successful – employers with real jobs and
applicants to show up.
This
is an excellent opportunity for companies to meet their employment
needs.
As
of early last week, Buckner reported 31 registered employers and
growing.
It
is open to job seekers from the general public as well as university,
college, and community college graduates.
There
is no admission fee.

Lady Lions,
Lady Patriots advance in tournament play
Both
the H.W. Byers Lady Lions and the Marshall Academy Lady Patriots moved
on in postseason tournament competition Tuesday.
Byers
crushed Bay Springs 78-53 in the quarter-finals of the Class 2A State
Tournament after leading 46-26 at the half.
Marshall,
on the other hand, escaped with a 42-39 win over Marvell Academy in the
opening round of the Mississippi Private School Association Overall
Tournament.
The
Lady Lions will face Scott Central Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the
semi-finals at Jackson.
The
Lady Patriots were set to battle Magnolia Heights Wednesday at 10 a.m.
in the quarter-finals at Clinton.
County school
board plans March 10 meeting at Byers
The
Marshall County Board of Education will meet for the regular board
meeting on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at H.W. Byers High School. The
school is located at 4178 Highway 72 East.
Black History
Banquet set for Saturday; Meredith to speak
James
Meredith will be the keynote speaker for Marshall County’s Black
History Awards Banquet Saturday, Feb. 28.
The
event begins at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Outreach Center on Highway 309 in
Byhalia. A $20 donation is requested.
There
will be a performance by the St. Paul Mass Choir, sponsored by Pastor
Andrew Cheairs and Rep. Kelvin Buck.
