Indians earn third seed

The Byhalia Indians secured the third seed in this week’s Region 3-3A Tournament with a four-point win over Senatobia on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Coach Michael Neal said his team got off to a slow start but rallied in the second half for the 51-47 win. The Indians trailed 13-5 after one quarter, 22-16 at the half and 34-32 following three periods.
“We came out a little rusty,” he said. “But we were able to get it going in the middle of the third and the fourth. We actually had a 10-point lead, and they hit some shots at the end.”
Cornelius Blackmon poured in 17 points, 11 of those coming in the second half. Mario Parker scored 14 and Courtney Warren 10.
On Friday night, January 30, the Indians had no trouble with Lewisburg – winning 82-49.
The lead was 41-17 at halftime.
Twelve Indians scored. Leading the way was Warren with 17. Blackmon and Thomas Lesueur had 10 each. Jermone Marion contributed nine and Parker eight.
