New teams joining MA in district
By BARRY BURLESON
Marshall Academy will see a slightly altered district for athletic competition in 2009-11.
The Mississippi Private School Association recently released the new athletic alignment.
The Patriots will remain a member of District 1-AA but a couple of schools are moving in and three are moving out.
The new District 1-AA, starting with next school year, will include present members Marshall, Kirk Academy and Indianola Academy. Additions are North Delta School and West Memphis Christian School, both moving up from Class A.
Gone are Carroll Academy, which is shifting to District 2-AA; Lee (Clarksdale), which is going up to Class AAA; and Lee (Marianna, Ark.), which is dropping to Class A.
Carroll will be joining Manchester Academy, Winston Academy and Oak Hill Academy in District 2-AA. Oak Hill is moving down from Class AAA.
Lee (Clarksdale) will be a member of North Division II Class AAA with Magnolia Heights School, Washington School, Pillow Academy and Heritage Academy.
Lee (Marianna, Ark.) is going to District 1-A, joining Delta Academy, DeSoto School, Marvell Academy and Tunica Academy.
