| Police respond to rash of burglaries Numerous burglaries of homes and break-ins of automobiles were reported to Holly Springs police during the week of Christmas. Chief Robert Pearson provided the following report of activities: Two purses were reported stolen from the 100 block of Whaley Drive December 21. Both purses contained a wallet and debit card. A simple assault was reported in the South Chesterman area December 21. A burglary was reported in the 800 block of Rising Star Road December
21. Missing after the burglary were a picture, perfume, and DVDs. Entry
was forced though the back door of the residence. Police
arrested and charged two individuals, Roberto Huerta, 25, of Memphis,
Tenn., and Helen Robson, 23, of Germantown, Tenn., with burglary of a
dwelling/breaking and entering. A malicious mischief incident was reported in the 200 block of Clara Avenue December 22. A four-wheeler was reported missing in the 200 block of South Chesterman December 22. A homeowner was assaulted while confronting two burglars inside the
house in the 200 block of North Walthall December 23. Pearson said the
homeowner heard noises and discovered a male and female standing in his
home. A scuffle ensued between the homeowner and the intruders and the
homeowner was stabbed in the back with a knife and subsequently flown
to The Med for treatment. The incident is under investigation, the
chief said. Malicious mischief was reported in the 900 block of Mackie Drive December 23. A commercial burglary was reported in the 200 block of Bethlehem December 24. No items were reported missing. A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Briarwood December 24.
Missing from the residence was a pink Nintendo DS, a Tinkerbell DS
game, a Tinkerbell Lost Treasure DS game, a Little Pet Show DS game, a
Princess and the Frog DS game, a Pocahontas DVD and Aristocrats DVD, a
Snow White DVD and the Tinkerbell Lost Treasure DVD. There were no
signs of forced entry. A dwelling was reported
burglarized in the 200 block of West Street December 25. Missing were a
42-inch plasma flat-screen television and a Sony DVD player. A purse was reported missing in the 900 block of Mackie Drive on
December 26. The purse contained a wallet, $250 in cash and a bank card
and checkbook. A burglary of a dwelling was
reported in the 100 block of Maury Street on December 26 but nothing
was missing. Entry was made through the back door. An automobile was burglarized in the 200 block of West Valley Street December 27. A rifle was reported missing.
Officers
reported these additional activities for the week ending December 27 –
speeding, 4; no driver’s license, 1; no proof of insurance, 4; no
tag/expired tag, 2; driving while license suspended, 2; simple assault,
1; illegal parking in a handicap space, 1; contempt of court, 7;
switched tag, 1; and dog running at large, 1.
