State troopers in midst of holiday blitz
Troopers with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol are conducting a DUI blitz between December 16 through January 3, according to Sgt. Leslie White with the office in Batesville.
“Extra troopers will be working and watching for speeding, erratic driving, careless driving, and they will be enforcing the move-over-law and the seat belt law,” White said.
He urges all motorists to observe the traffic laws and to not drink and drive.
“For those who choose to drink and drive, they will be locked up,” White said. “This is all about public safety.”
Blood drive set Jan. 6 at Marshall Academy
Marshall Academy will be holding a blood drive on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mississippi Blood Services will have a donor coach in the parking lot. All donors will receive a 2010 Road to Life T-shirt. The school is located at 100 Academy Drive, Holly Springs.
“Blood donors help many Mississippians get back on ‘the road to life’ and we want to return the favor by giving them the chance to get on the road in a brand new car,” said Tony Bahou, manager of communications and public relations. “Blood donors are the driving force behind Mississippi Blood Services. They literally give of themselves to give the gift of life.”
