| City officers investigate burglaries The Holly Springs Police Department reported several burglaries during the week of December 14-20. Officers also made three arrests on grand larceny charges. There
was a report of a burglary of an automobile on December 14 in the 100
block of Rust Avenue. Damage was done to the front driver’s side window
and the dashboard. A wallet containing $200 in cash, an insurance card,
driver’s license, Social Security card and a Sony PlayStation 2 were
reported missing. The same day a burglary of a
dwelling was reported in the 400 block of Salem Avenue. Entry was
gained through the south end door. No items were reported missing. A
burglary of a commercial building was reported in the 500 block of
Highway 178 East on December 15. Entry was gained through the roof. An
unknown amount of cash was reported missing. On
December 16, in the 100 block of Clarice Drive, a burglary of a
commercial building was reported. Two torch tanks and one vehicle were
reported missing. There was a report of a
burglary of a dwelling in the 200 block of Hurdle Circle on December
17. Entry was gained through an unsecured window. The items reported
missing were one Dell computer (CPU and monitor), one Sony DVD player
and several other items. December 18, there was a report of a burglary of an automobile in the 100 block of North Walthall. Nothing was reported missing. A breaking and entering was reported in the area of Rising Star Road on December 20. Two microwaves were reported missing. Earl Stewart, 56, of Holly Springs, was arrested for grand larceny, according to chief Robert Pearson. Celester Dawkins, 56, of Holly Springs, was also arrested for grand larceny, he said. Marvin
White, AKA “Jerry Farris,” 18, of Houston, was arrested for breaking
and entering and grand larceny, according to Chief Pearson. Officers
also responded to the following activities last week – no/expired
driver’s license, 5; no insurance, 1; no/expired tag, 1; driving while
license suspended, 1; speeding, 1; DUI refusal, 1; domestic violence
simple assault, 1; contempt of court, 8.
