Elizabeth Irene
Jones-Briggs, 73, of Moscow, Tenn., formerly of Michigan City, died
Nov. 30, 2009 in Lamar. She was the widow of John Briggs. She was a
retired machine operator with IPS Industries in Collierville, Tenn.,
and former church usher. Services were held at
12 noon on Dec. 6 at Sims Chapel MB Church in Michigan City, where she
was a member. Burial was in Webb Family Cemetery in Michigan City. Rev.
Randall Woodard officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements. She leaves three
daughters, Dorothy Briggs of Olive Branch, Shirley Briggs of Moscow,
Tenn., Elizabeth Briggs of Cayce; three sisters, Dorothy Jones of
Michigan City, Charlene Ashcraft of Kirkwood, Mo., Sadie Green of St.
Louis, Mo.; four brothers, Aaron Jones, Melvin Webb, George Webb, all
of Michigan City, Lathan Jones of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Marie Briggs. Pallbearers
were Herbert Jones, Terrance Franklin, Kelvin Young, Anthony Ellis,
Reggie Crawford and Robert Craig. Honorary pallbearers were Alexander
McGowan, Wayne Chearis, James Briggs, Randale Jones, Robert Earl Briggs

Gloria
Jean Martin, 50, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 2, 2009 at Baptist
Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven. She was a member of Hopewell No. 1 MB
Church and disabled. Services were held at 11
a.m. on Dec. 8 at Yarbrough Chapel CME Church. Burial was in the church
cemetery. Rev. Denise Modest officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves
her mother, Shirley Dukes McKinney of Holly Springs; three daughters,
Gloria Marie Martin of Holly Springs, Arlean Parker of Morgantown, W.
Va., Janeice Martin of Grantown, W. Va.; three sons, Larry Wayne Martin
of Holly Springs, DeWayne Martin of Fairmont, W. Va., Robert Martin of
Aurora, Ill.; several sisters and brothers; and 19 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Larry Martin, Drick Hearns, Matthew Newson, Nathaniel Martin Jr., Mario Rogers and Randy Parker. Mary Josephine McCallum Mary
Josephine McCallum, 87, of Potts Camp, died Dec. 5, 2009 at her home.
She was the widow of Earl Vleet McCallum. She was a member of Salem
Baptist Church. Services were held at 11 am. on
Dec. 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Ebenezer
Cemetery in Myrtle. Bro. Randy Bynum officiated. She
leaves a son, Earl McCallum Jr. of San Antonio, Tx.; four daughters,
Ruby Slade of Mesquite, Tx., Cheryl Campbell, Pam Sanders, both of
Potts Camp, Earlene Ray of Lakes Charles, La.; eight grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. John Hugh Miller John
Hugh Miller, 85, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 4, 2009 at his home. He
was the widower of Joy Ogle Miller and a member of Evangel Baptist
Church in Memphis, Tenn. Graveside services
were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly Springs
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He
leaves his cousins Conway Moore of Waterford, Scott Robinson of Holly
Springs; and caregivers, Tammy and Bobby Farrow of Senatobia. Duane Edward Morris Duane
Edward (Eddie) Morris, 42, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 2, 2009 at
Alliance HealthCare. He was a member of Slayden Baptist Church and a
supervisor at Cera Logistics. Services were held
at 10 a.m. on Dec. 5 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was
in Slayden Cemetery. Bro David Bishop officiated. He
leaves his wife, Samantha Tice Morris; two sons, Woodrow Morris, Samuel
Morris, both of Holly Springs; parents, Emmett Morris and Marie Morris
of Cleveland; two brothers, Greg Morris of Greenville, Ray Morris of
Cleveland; in-laws David and Renee Tice of Slayden; and brother-in-law,
Bubba and Rhonda Tice of Michigan City. Tawanda Rhodes Tawanda
Rhodes, 85, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 6, 2009 in Oxford. She was the
widow of Milton Rhodes, a member of First Methodist Church of Holly
Springs and a retired employee of Wurlitzer. Graveside
services were held at 4 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Hill Crest Cemetery in Holly
Springs. Bro. Justin Curtis officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements. She leaves a son,
Ricky Rhodes of Holly Springs; two daughters, Lutricia Gardner of
Verona, Alicia Inman of Oxford; four grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Gracie Mallory Turner
Gracie
Mallory Turner, 90, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 3, 2009 at Trinity
Mission Health and Rehab. She was the widow of J.B. Turner; a member of
Strawberry MB Church, where she served on the missionary society and
mother’s board; and a member of Heroines of Jericho Court No. 14. She
was born in Myrtle to King and Winnie Mallory, and was a retired
domestic worker. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. on
Dec. 11 at the funeral home; and 10-10:55 a.m. on Dec. 12 at the
church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 12 at Anderson Chapel
CME Church. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Deldrick
Leasure will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home will be in
charge of arrangements. She leaves three
daughters, Nell Owens, Pearly Jones, Jannie Luellen, all of Holly
Springs; 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children Jerry Turner and Lurline Turner. Pallbearers
were Jarvis Lane, Jamarris Lane, Jamaun Lane, Sgt. Linwood Turner,
Lakeith Jones, Jason Jones, Jeremy Jones and Jeffrey Jones. Honorary
pallbearers were Christopher Muse, Lamarcus Jones, Jairus Leasure,
Gabriel Owens Sr., Luther Harris, Lilton Crane and Sammie Taylor. Anthony McClure Wilson Anthony
McClure Wilson, 57, died Dec. 4, 2009 at Methodist University Hospital
in Memphis, Tenn. He was born in Memphis, Tenn. and returned to Holly
Springs in 2002. He was a member of Carey Chapel in Mt. Pleasant and
attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, Tenn. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial
was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Steve Wilson officiated. He
leaves his mother, Clara O. Shaw of Holly Springs; four brothers, Mike
Wilson, Steve Wilson, both of Waterford, Thomas Wilson of Hickory Flat,
