final two games of the Indian Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday
pitted long-standing rivals in Marshall County against each other. The
Holly High Lady Hawks were still looking for their first win of the new

Playing in front of hometown fans
Traci Rodgers, a former basketball star for the Marshall Academy Lady
Patriots, and her Mississsippi College teammates visited Holly Springs Tuesday of last
week for a game against Rust College. Rodgers is pictured after the game with her parents,
Tommy and Vicki Rodgers. The Lady Choctaws defeated the Lady Bearcats 89-77 and Rodgers scored
10 points in her team’s victory. Many family members and friends were in
attendance to watch Rodgers, who is a freshman at Mississippi College. The Lady Choctaws improved to 3-0
this past Saturday with a 70-58 win over Hardin-Simmons. |
Hawks rout Oktibbeha; Lady Indians beat Jags By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The
Byhalia Indians staged their first modern day tournament during the
holiday break. The Indian Thanksgiving Tournament lasted two days and
featured teams from as far away as Sparkman, Ala., (one of two
girls-only entries). The Sparkman ladies and the
Horn Lake Lady Eagles opened the play with a first game at 11 a.m.
Friday. The Lady Eagles were victorious in that one. Full Story
Duck season opens The Mississippi duck season
opened Friday, Nov. 27, a moment many Magnolia State waterfowl hunters
have been anxiously awaiting since the end of the last duck season. Full Story
