MA scores 41 but falls to Lamar • Patriots finish 10-2 By BARRY BURLESON Editor | Photo by Ronnie Day
Touchdown Marshall Academy’s Tyler Childers, who rushed for 236 yards Friday night, plunges across the goal-line for a 10-yard score. |
Two
teams combined for 95 points and more than 1,000 yards total offense
Friday night at Patriot Field. Unfortunately, the visitors got the
slight majority. In a classic shootout between a
run-oriented offense and a passing one, the air attack came out on top.
Lamar School eliminated Marshall Academy from the Class AA football
playoffs with the 54-41 win. There were only two punts in the game, one
by each team. The Raiders (11-1) move on to face Simpson for the north
state crown. MA finishes 10-2. Full Story
Lady Cards, Hawks earn victories By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The
Lady Hawks took the floor for their home opener November 9 versus Potts
Camp under new management. They have a new head coach, Crystal Stewart,
and a new assistant, Candace Saulsbury. The tip
went to Holly High, which is returning a handful of players from last
season’s squad. The Lady Cardinals were bringing a proven veteran in
Kenyotta Jenkins. This was the season’s inaugural game for both teams.
Potts Camp appeared to be better prepared on defense. And while they
ran up a sizeable lead in the first quarter, their lane shooting and
ball control were suspect. The first ended 20-6 in favor of the
visitors. Full Story
