Celebration
Thursday, tree lighting Friday
Two
big events – the Chamber Celebration and Tree Lighting with Santa – are
scheduled this week in Byhalia.
The
Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Chamber
Celebration Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at BardenStone, 89
Edwards Road.
There
will be music by “Blue
Denim,” plus awards presentations for Leader of the Year, Board Member
of the Year and Customer Service of the Year. Chamber sponsors will be
recognized, plus the celebration features prizes and much more. The
cost is $20 without a reservation.
The
next
night, Friday, Nov. 20, the town of Byhalia and the chamber
will host
Tree Lighting with Santa. It starts at 5:30 p.m. downtown on Brunswick
Avenue at the park. Activities will include holiday music, photos with
Santa ($5), and free hot dogs (donated by Citizens Bank).
“Christmas
in Byhalia” this year features a “brand new” lighting extravaganza
donated by LCI Inc.
Tour of homes,
parade just few weeks away
The
annual Christmas in Holly Springs tour will be held Saturday, Dec. 5,
and Sunday, Dec. 6.
On
the tour this year are Finley Place, Montrose, Wall Doxey House,
Fairview, Walthall-Freeman Clark House. To obtain tickets, contact the
Marshall County Historical Museum at 662-252-3669.
Also
open will be the historical museum, Ida B. Wells Museum and Church of
the Yellow Fever Martyrs. Concerts will be held Dec. 5 and 6 at 2 p.m.
at First Presbyterian Church.
Christmas
Dinner
Theater will be held at the First Baptist Church Activity Center on
Dec. 4-6. It will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, and at 5:30
p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6. For reservations, call

The
downtown Christmas parade is
set for Saturday, Dec. 5, starting at 5 p.m. To enter the holiday
parade, call the chamber of commerce at 662-252-2943.
Early deadlines
set for next week’s newspaper
The
South Reporter announces early deadlines for its Thursday, Nov. 26,
edition due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Deadline
for classified advertising will be Friday, Nov. 20, at 12 noon.
Deadline for all other advertising (including legal notices) and news
is Friday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m.
The
newspaper will be available one day earlier than normal next
week.
