The Potts Camp boys and girls finished third and fifth, respectively, in the Class 1A State Cross Country Meet Saturday at Mississippi College.
The Cardinals scored 73 points and trailed second-place West Union (48) and champion Myrtle (29).
Finishing fourth and fifth on the boys side were West Lincoln (154) and French Camp (155).
Two Cardinals – Kris Roberts and George Hampton – were all-state runners, finishing in the top 14 at Choctaw Trails. Roberts’ time was 19:02, while Hampton completed the 5K course in 19:10.
The Lady Cardinals scored 165 points. They trailed fourth-place French Camp (112), third-place West Union (85), second-place Resurrection (59) and champion Myrtle (32).
“All of our runners put out a great effort,” said Karen Green, head coach of the Potts Camp cross country teams. “I’m very proud of them.”
