Veterans Day activities set for Wednesday
There will be a Veterans Day
Parade in Holly Springs next Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Line-up
will be at Dollar General on Craft Street at 9 a.m. with the parade
starting at 10 a.m., according to Amy Heaton with the chamber of
commerce. It will proceed north on Craft Street, ending up on the
square.
There will be a ceremony on the
square after the parade with Rep. Kelvin Buck as the guest speaker.

Also,
Marshall Academy fifth and sixth graders will host a Veterans Day
Program, “Let’s Sing, America,” on
Wednesday, Nov. 11, starting at 10
a.m. in the gymnasium.
“We will be celebrating
several of America’s symbols, such as the Liberty Bell and
the National
Anthem,” said Lauren Wakefield, music teacher.
The school extends a special
invitation to the veterans in the community
“The
program emphasizes their impact on the molding of our great
nation,”
she said. “Everyone is invited to come show your support for
our
heroes.”
The ninth annual Veterans Day
Celebration honoring local veterans will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, at
6:30 p.m. at the Ida B. Wells-Barnett Museum Cultural Center of African
American History, 220 North Randolph.
All are
welcome to come and learn about American and African American soldiers
who served their country. For additional information, contact the
museum at 662-252-3232. Refreshments will be served.
Tour of homes, parade scheduled Dec. 5-6
The annual Christmas in Holly
Springs tour will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 6.
On
the tour this year are Finley Place, Montrose, Wall Doxey House,
Fairview, Walthall-Freeman Clark House. To obtain tickets, contact the
Marshall County Historical Museum at 662-252-3669.
Also
open will be the historical museum, Ida B. Wells Museum and Church of
the Yellow Fever Martyrs. Concerts will be held Dec. 5 and 6 at 2 p.m.
at First Presbyterian Church.
Christmas Dinner
Theater will be held at the First Baptist Church Recreation Building on
Dec. 4, 5 and 6, at 7 p.m. For reservations, call 662-252-2627.
The
downtown Christmas parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, starting at 5
