White Oak
rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17
Rain,
rain, rain. The 28th annual White Oak Festival, hosted by Byhalia
Sports Association and the Byhalia Lion’s Club, was put on hold until
Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. until, with crafts, displays, food,
games, activities for kids and adults, raffles, live entertainment, and
many prizes.
Byhalia
Sports Association will
raffle off an opportunity to have the Polka Dot Bakery create your next
beautifully decorated cake for a special occasion.
The
Byhalia Lions Club will be holding a raffle for groceries.
Entertainment includes Byhalia pompom squads, a talent competition, and
much more.
Northcentral
Electric Power
Association, Citizens Bank, CenturyTel, Merchants and Farmers Bank,
Farm Bureau, Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce and Health 1st Family
Medical Clinic, the sponsors of the festival, encourage everyone to
attend the festival at the corner of Edwards Road and Lowry Drive off
Highway 178 near the Industrial Park.
Admission
is free with a $2 per car parking fee on the grounds. Limited booth
spaces are still available on a first come, first serve basis and
cannot be reserved without payment. To ensure you have a space for your
booth, please call immediately as spaces are nearly gone. Concession
spaces are already filled.

for
other booth spaces ($30) are available from Janice Wagg at 901-246-8843
or at the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce office Monday through
Thursday.
“We
appreciate those who came out
looking for the festival and we hope you can join us on a warmer, drier
Saturday, October 17,” Wagg said.
Byhalia chamber
plans luncheon, golf tourney
The
Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce’s next general membership luncheon is
Thursday, Oct. 22, starting at 11:15 a.m.
It
will be hosted by Northcentral Electric Power Association in its
community building, 225 Highway 309 South, Byhalia.
The
luncheon will be catered by Sheriff Kenny Dickerson and crew, with fish
and all the trimmings.
Reservations
are required by October 19. Call 662-838-8127.
Also,
the White Oak Classic 14th Annual Golf Scramble will be played
Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Kirkwood. Registration for the four-man scramble
begins at 11 a.m. ($120 per person), with shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
There will be an auction and raffle prizes.
