Georgia Ruth Carter Georgia Ruth Carter, 80,
of Memphis, Tenn., died Sept. 18, 2009 at North MS Medical Center in
Iuka. She was the widow of William Carter and a Baptist. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Memphis Memory Gardens. She
leaves her son, Michael Carter of Lakeland, Tenn.; two daughters,
Constance Dimilo of Pascedo, Tx., Sandra Gail Travis of Iuka; a
brother, Gene Rigdon of Cauldwell, Idaho; three sisters, Stella McGinn
of Topeka, Kan., Frances Skipton of Garden City, Kan., Mary Sue Smith
of Simi Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ella Ree Jeffries
Ella
Ree Jeffries, 57, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 16, 2009 at Baptist
Memphis Hospital. She was a retired accountant with Thomas & Betts
of Memphis, Tenn. Services were held at 11 a.m.
on Sept. 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member.
Father Leonard Elder officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements. She leaves a son,
Corey Jeffries of Cordova, Tenn.; four sisters, Elnora Jeffries, Geneva
Brown, Ardelia Roberts, Wanda Cowan, all of Holly Springs; and two
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jeffries. John Gary McLarty John Gary McLarty, 53, of Ripley, died Sept. 13, 2009 at his home. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Serenity Chapel New Albany. Burial
was in Abbeville Cemetery. Bro. Charlie Gainey officiated. He
leaves his wife, Valerie McLarty; five children, Molly Bridges of Potts
Camp, Crystal McLarty of Marks, Kristina Foreman of Pontotoc, Cassandra
Cook of Ripley, Bradley Grantham of Oxford; siblings Joseph McLarty of
Tacoma, Wash., Edwin McLarty of Litchfield, Ill., Lottie Jamieson of
Nashville, Tenn., Maryann Enwright of Vicenne, Ind.; and eight

Howard
(Nay-Boone) Norman, 64, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 13, 2009 at
Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. He was born in Wyatt. Services
were held at 12 noon on Sept. 19 at St. Paul MB Church in Byhalia,
where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Andrew
Cheairs, pastor; elder Marvin Richmond officiated. Serenity Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves a
son, Ternice Norman of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Sandra Smith of
Memphis; a brother, Robert (Morris) Norman of Byhalia; two sisters,
Etta Dockery of Byhalia, Bertha Rodgers of Byhalia; and two
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers
were William Norman, Errik Rogers, Clark Rodgers, Mario Norman, Travis
Bowens and Eugene Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Ternice Norman,
Ervin Tunstall, Sherwon Tunstall and Marcus Tunstall. Berryniece Ann McIntyre Pool

Ann McIntyre Pool, 75, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died
Sept. 14, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Sammie Pool. She was a
retired laborer with Seal Master. Graveside
services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 19 at McIntyre Cemetery in Holly
Springs. Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves
two daughters, Riley Armstrong of Montgomery, Ill., Sunada Pool
Henderson of New Orleans, La.; five sons, LaFerry Pryor, Ernest Dean,
Terence Pool Sr., Jeroloyde Poole, Sammie Pool, all of Aurora, Ill.; 16
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Ruth Pryor and a twin sister,
Bernice McIntyre; and a brother, Aaron Dean McIntyre Sr. Pallbearers were Laferry Pryor, Ernest Dean, Terence W. Pool, Jeroloyde Poole, Sammie D. Pool and Conrad J. Armstrong. Gene Autry Scruggs
Gene
Autry (Bud) Scruggs, 61, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 10, 2009 at his
home. He was a member of Bell Grove MB Church and a retired truck
driver with Choctaw Construction Company. Services
were held at 2:30 on Sept. 19 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in
Smith Grove MB Church Cemetery. Minister Marvin Lucas officiated. J.F.
Brittenum and Son Funeral Home officiated. He
leaves a daughter, Kimberle Scruggs of Louisville, Ky.; and three
sisters, Annie Scruggs of Memphis, Tenn., MaDora Scruggs, Jean Scruggs,
both of Holly Springs. He was preceded in death by siblings Wilson Hardin, Doris James, Annie McClatchey and Viola Scruggs.
