| Two die in county accidents By BARRY BURLESON Editor Two people were killed in separate accidents on Marshall County roadways last weekend. The
first accident, a head-on collision, occurred about 10:51 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 18, on Highway 178 East at the Calvin Chapel United Methodist
Church. Lura Stinson, 65, of Holly Springs, was
killed in the accident, according to coronor James Richard Anderson.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her son, Anthony Stinson, 44,
who was transported to The Med in Memphis. Lura Stinson was pronounced
dead on the scene at 11:25 p.m. There were two
people – an 8-year-old child and a 42-year-old man – in the other
vehicle involved, which was an SUV. The youngster was transported to
LeBonheur in Memphis and the adult transported to The Med, according to
Kenny Holbrook with the Holly Springs Fire Department. The other accident happened during the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 19. “We don’t know the exact time,” Anderson said. “A deputy drove up on it.” He
said Marcellus Emonz Jimmerson, 29, of 3569 Hoover Road, Holly Springs,
was killed when the car he was driving ran off the road and struck a
tree. It happened on Highway 4 East about three miles from the city
limits. The coroner got the call at 5:41 a.m. and the victim was
pronounced dead on the scene at 6:05 a.m. “It appeared he went to sleep,” Anderson said. Both accidents are still under investigation, according to Sgt. Leslie White with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
