Rachel Alexander
Kimmons, 83, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 4,
2009 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of L.C.
Kimmons, a member of Faith Temple COGIC in Memphis, Tenn., a church
deaconess, a Sunday school teacher, a Sunshine Band member at church
and a retired housekeeper with St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Services
were held at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 at New Highway COGIC in Memphis,
Tenn. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Elder
W.J. Hollins officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements. She leaves five
daughters, Erma Lee Jones, Rosetta Bradley, Gloria Jean Gatewood,
Abagail Marion, Brenda K. Perkins, all of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons,
L.C. Kimmons Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., Birl Kimmons of California; 34
grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Calvin Wayne Kimmons and Bobby B. Kimmons. Rev. George L. Marion

George L. Marion, 77, of Waterford, died Aug. 7, 2009 at his home. He
was a minister/pastor of Spring Hill MB Church, a former pastor of Bell
Grove MB Church and McIntyre MB Church, a member of Spring Hill MB
Church in Waterford and retired machine operator with Piper Inc. in New
Albany. Services were held at 12 noon on Aug. 15
at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in Spring Hill MB Church Cemetery.

leaves his wife, Helen Maize Isom Marion; two daughters, Joyce Helms of
Harrison Township, Mich., Patricia Powers of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons,
Anthony Marion of Holly Springs, Michael Marion of Blytheville, Ark.;
two sisters, Evelean Bogard of Holly Springs, Luzetta Carouthers of
Peoria, Ill.; three brothers, Frank Marion of Potts Camp, Sylvester
Marion, Benjamin Marion, both of Holly Springs; 14 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Derrick V.
Powers, Merrick L. Marion, Michael Marion, Tracy Marion, Robin T.
Powers and Antonie Marion. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Anthony
Marion, Michael Marion, James H. Marion, Frankie L. Marion, Bobby L.
Smith and Bobby Sims. Ivan O. Pearson Sr.
Ivan
O. Pearson Sr., 73, died Aug. 6, 2009. He was educated in the Carroll
County Public School System and graduated from Webb High School. He was
employed by General Motors in Saginaw, Mich., as a labor foreman at the
Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry, and retired on Dec. 1, 1980. After
retirement, he was briefly employed by the Saginaw Board of Education.
In 1956, he was baptized at Truvine Missionary Baptist Church. He was
ordained a deacon in the late 1950s, the youngest deacon. Services
were held at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 at Truvine Missionary MB Church.
Rev. Paul E. Broaddus officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial
Gardens in Saginaw. Paradise Funeral Chapel, Saginaw, was in charge of
arrangements. He leaves his wife of 53 years,
Josephine Pearson; four sons, Ivan O. Pearson Jr., Holly Springs Police
Chief Robert W. Pearson, Clarence E. Pearson, John E. Pearson; a
daughter, Linda P. Smith; three brothers, Ernest Wallick, Neosho
Branch, Clarence Branch Jr.; two sisters, Brooxie Fentress, Virginia
Maple; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were sons and grandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice I. Carter. Mamie Theresa Walton Perkins

Theresa Walton, 46, of Horn Lake, formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug.
11, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of
J.C. Perkins. She was a member of St. Paul CME Church and a disabled
laborer with Stylecraft in Southaven. Services
were held 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 at Providence MB Church in Holly
Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Tony Wilkins
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves three children, Jamie D.
Perkins, Jade Perkins, Jennifer Perkins, all of Horn Lake; her mother,
Effie Jenkins Johnson of Holly Springs; her father, Frank Walton of
Hudsonville; her step-father, Noah Johnson Jr. of Chicago; three
sisters, Deborah Walton-Jeffries of Holly Springs, Karen Walton of
Ashland, Cathy Manning of Holly Springs; two brothers, Noah Johnson III
and Charles Walton, both of Holly Springs. Pallbearers
were Donald Jenkins, William Jenkins, Willie McNeil, Ghoston Glover
Jr., Sandy Jenkins, Grant Glover, Charles Glover and William Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Perkins, Noah Johnson, Vister Bryson,
Charles Walton, Ricky Odum and Ira Glover. Armando Flores Roberto Armando Flores Roberto, 24, of Memphis, Tenn., died Aug. 11, 2009 at Cayce Road. He was Catholic. Services will be held at a later date. Holly Springs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. He
leaves his mother and father, Hector Flores Morinda, Rosa Roberto
Casemiro of Mexico; a brother, Ruben Flores Roberto of Memphis, Tenn.;
and a sister, Sura Roberto of Mexico. Thelma Louise Whitehead Thelma
Louise Whitehead, 71, of Senatobia, died Aug. 10, 2009 at her home. She
was a bookkeeper and real estate agent with Century 21. Services
were held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Burial was in New Hope Baptist Cemetery in Independence. Bishop Don
Johnson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves a daughter, Elwanda
Whitehead of Senatobia; a brother, Lloyd Duran of Florida; four
sisters, Tracy Brown of Hartselle, Ala., Mary Elizabeth Garner of
Jacksonville, Fla., Marcie Robertson of Ashville, N.C., Susan Rosen of
R.I.; and three grandchildren.
