Byhalia Chamber sets luncheon Thursday
The Byhalia Area Chamber of
Commerce’s next general membership luncheon is set for Thursday, Aug.
13.
It will be held from 11:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. at The Flame, Byhalia United Methodist Church, 2511 Church
Street.
The luncheon will be hosted by
Northeast Mississippi Health Care, Byhalia Family Medical Clinic.
There is no charge for members.

Hummingbird event slated for Sept. 11-13
Start making plans to attend the
10th annual Hummingbird Migration Celebration.
It will be held Friday through
Sunday, Sept. 11-13, at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center, Holly Springs.

One killed in accident Sunday on Cayce Road
A Marshall County teenager died
in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday on Cayce Road.
Edgar
Bolanos, 16, of 48 Sharp Cove, Byhalia, was killed when the 1998
Mitsubishi Montero Sport he was driving north on Cayce left the road
and rolled, and he was ejected from the vehicle, coroner James Richard
Anderson said.
The accident happened about a
mile north of Deer Creek Road.
Anderson
said a deputy on patrol drove up on the scene about 1 a.m. A passenger
in the wrecked vehicle – who suffered just a few cuts – was trying to
flag down someone to help.
The coroner said
rescue personnel administered CPR. Anderson got the call at 1:48 p.m.
and the victim was pronounced dead at 2:14 a.m.
Byhalia police officers respond to 41 calls
The Byhalia Police Department
responded to 41 calls during the past week.
Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 7; motor
vehicle accidents, 2; burglaries, 1; disturbances, 1; domestic calls,
1; thefts, 1; escorts, 3; assists, 1; medical assistance, 11; fires, 1;
and miscellaneous calls, 12.
Byhalia police officers also made
three arrests during the past week.
