Storms cause damage
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency received reports of damage from severe weather that moved through parts of the state Thursday.
Initial damage reports by county are as follows:
Kevin Doddridge, general manager of Northcentral Electric Power Association, said the storm hit the Olive Branch area around 6 p.m. Thursday. He said Northcentral lost power to 9,000 consumers in northeast DeSoto County and north Marshall County. At 7:30 p.m., approximately 500 were still without power, mostly in northeast DeSoto County.
These are all initial reports from county emergency managers. Additional damage assessments are underway. MEMA will continue to provide additional reports as information becomes available. The National Weather Service will investigate and confirm reports of any tornadoes.
