All three seniors from last season’s Marshall Academy baseball team have now signed college scholarships. Hunter Bolden made his choice last week. He will play for the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans. “I
believe this will be a perfect fit for Hunter,” said Johnny Ray, head
coach of the Patriots. “He should have the opportunity to go in and
play right away. He has worked very hard over the past year to have an
opportunity to play at the next level. He deserves this.” Full Story

Hawks, under the leadership of head coach Clifford Brown, placed third

Opener Aug. 7 for Lady Pats By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Marshall Academy soccer team starts a new season soon under the guidance of a new coach. Lance
McGregor takes over for Catherine Mirante, who led the Lady Patriots
for three seasons. It’s his first time to coach soccer. He played the
sport in high school at Lafayette. McGregor said the girls have been working hard since the spring, including twice-a-week drills in the summer. Full Story

Master Boswell’s ATA Black Belt Academy (Olive
Branch) and the Marshall County ATA Black Belt Academy (Holly Springs)
conducted a taekwondo demonstration during the recent Kudzu Festival.
In the top photo are Shawn Jewell, brown belt; Ron Boswell, 6th degree
black belt; Will Painter, 2nd degree black belt; and Tina Jewell, brown
belt. Above left is Michael Moore, 1st degree black belt. Above right are Alexis
Boswell, red belt; Shawn Jewell (on ground, in back); Shelia Rucker,
orange belt; and Nico Rucker, orange belt. The two schools have between
40 and 50 enrolled. Classes are available for all ages, starting at 3

Hunter Safety Class Aug. 15 A Hunter Safety
Class will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Marshall County
Fairgrounds on Highway 7 North. It is scheduled from 8 a.m. until. Participants must be 10 years of age and must bring a Social Security number. Persons must register for the class by calling 662-563-6330.
