Holly High grad in inaugural parade By BARRY BURLESON Editor At
least one Marshall Countian will be a part of the historic presidential
inauguration festivities next Tuesday in the nation’s capital. Antonio
Barrino, a college student at Grambling State University and native of
Holly Springs, will be a participant in the Presidential Inaugural
Parade. He will be marching as a member of the World Famed Tiger
Marching Band of Grambling State University in Louisiana. Full Story
Hwy. 72 business robbed By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place January 5 at a Highway 72 business. Sheriff
Kenny Dickerson said two masked men, both armed with handguns, entered
Moore’s Grocery/Mike’s One Stop at about 11:30 a.m. that Monday and

Supervisors salute community service of Winfield By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Marshall County Board of Supervisors honored Joe Winfield Monday by dedicating the meeting in his memory. Winfield,
79, died at his home in Byhalia Friday. He served as a volunteer
firefighter for 40 years, 15 with the Cayce Fire Department. He was a

City leaders address potholes, sewer collapse By BARRY BURLESON Editor Potholes,
sewer problems, the city’s web page and sales tax revenue were a few
topics talked about during last week’s meeting of the Holly Springs

Byhalia police officers go to 28 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 28 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 4;
disturbances, 4; domestic disturbances, 1; escorts, 5; assists, 1;
medical assistance calls, 5; and miscellaneous, 8. Byhalia police also made two arrests.

enlisted in the U.S. Navy SEALS.
He will be leaving Jan 21, and will
be taking his training in Calif.
Will is the son of Jimmy Olita
and Donna Fitch, and grandson of
Betty Olita and Betty Fitch. Family and friends honored Will
with a going-away party at Bellevue
Woods in Cordova, Tenn. They
