• Birthday breakfast The Marshall County branch of the NAACP is sponsoring the 24th annual commemoration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King. Breakfast will be served, free to all, on Mon., Jan. 19, 9 a.m. at Mt. Zion Taska MB Church, 519 Mt. Zion Rd., Byhalia. Keynote speaker is Rev. Keith Penilton, church pastor. • Fish fry Emory Independent Methodist Church in Byhalia will be sponsoring its annual St. Jude Fund-raiser on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 5 p.m. in the Family Life Center. An all-you-can-eat fish fry with desserts will be on sale for $10 for adults and $5 for children, age 10 yrs. and under. All proceeds will benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

• Recovery Meeting S.O.S. Christian Recovery Ministries will host a group meeting Friday evenings at 6 p.m. The group’s primary focus is drug addiction, alcoholism and the affected families. There will be a group for family members to learn how to cope and heal from the destructive behavior of an addict or an alcoholic in the family.
