| Hwy. 72 business robbed By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place January 5 at a Highway 72 business. Sheriff
Kenny Dickerson said two masked men, both armed with handguns, entered
Moore’s Grocery/Mike’s One Stop at about 11:30 a.m. that Monday and
took over $4,000 in cash. It appears the robbers entered the store on foot and left on foot. “There were several witnesses in the store, and we have some pretty good leads,” Dickerson said. Anyone
having information regarding the crime, please contact the sheriff’s
department at 662-252-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-729-2169. In
a separate incident, Adam Kirkwood, 23, of Bing Trailer Park, Highway 7
in Ashland, was arrested on Tuesday of last week, according to
Dickerson, and charged with a residential burglary on Willow Drive, off
Cayce Road. Nobody was at home at the time of the
burglary about 12 noon or 1 p.m. December 30, 2008. Dickerson said the
back door of the residence was kicked in and an estimated $2,000 worth
of property taken. The items included guns, a DVD player, jewelry and a
televison. All items were recovered. Benton County assisted with the arrest, and Kirkwood was extradited back to Marshall County, Dickerson said. In
other sheriff’s department news, another suspect wanted in connection
with a Byhalia area burglary that occurred December 19, 2008, is in
custody. Adrian Armstrong, 20, of Tunstall Road,
Byhalia, was taken into custody in Memphis, Tenn., Thursday night and
extradited back to Marshall County Friday, Dickerson said. He is
charged with burglary. A resident on Pine Hill
Road witnessed the break-in at a neighbor’s house in the 300 block of
Tunstall Road. He immediately called authorities. One
suspect, Corey Winters, 22, of the Memphis area, was arrested after a
foot chase on the day of the incident, Dickerson said. He remains in
the Marshall County Jail. A third suspect remains at-large. Anyone
having information regarding the crime, please contact the sheriff’s
