Marshall County Humane Society News Humane Society hosts Dog Days of Summer Celebration August 1 It’s
none too soon to mark your calendars to join the Marshall County Humane
Society for our Dog Days of Summer Celebration to benefit abandoned and
neglected animals. On Saturday, August 1, from 4
p.m. to 8 p.m. we will gather at the multi-purpose building at 160 S.
Memphis St. in Holly Springs for both silent and live auctions. Items
include art, collectibles, trips, services, tools and much more. Tickets are $10 each. To purchase them call 662-544-0264, 662-564-1091 or email www.dogsncats07@att.net. There will be music. lots of fun and it’s for a great cause. You can help all the dogs have their day by participating. For

low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic call 662-252-6196. If you get the

to machines but if you don’t leave your phone number we can’t call you

Baby is sad This boxer has a sad face because her owner was
seriously injured in an accident and is no longer able to care for
her. She is well-mannered and needs someone to love. Please call for

Preserving Ida B. Wells’ legacy

weekend in Holly Springs was filled with activities, including a
catfish lunch, music and storytelling, a gospel hour, a Holly Springs
tour and a banquet. The theme this year was “Preserving, Protecting,
Promoting – Ida B. Wells’ Legacy.” |  | Students
with the Fanny Lou Hamer Freedom School from Etta play drums and later
recite poetry at the opening ceremonies of the Ida B. Wells Birthday
Celebration. Marimba Sobukwe, Ayo Sobukwe, Amelia and Amber Buford play
drums as Shiloh Walls and Ryan Buggs look on.
