Young Byers teams working By BARRY BURLESON Editor Summer brings a new challenge for Jason Thompson. “We’re
in the rebuilding phase,” said the head coach of the H.W. Byers Lady
Lions. “We have a lot of work to do, but we’re excited about the
opportunity to improve.” Byers is looking to
fill, as best it can, the big shoes of five seniors who led the team to
back-to-back Class 2A state championships. Gone are Rachel Jones,

Big rodeo July 17-18 The 25th annual Knotty Bolden Memorial Deep South Championship Rodeo will be held July 17-18. It
begins at 8 p.m. each day at the Knotty Bolden Memorial Arena on
Highway 7, six miles north of Holly Springs. The kids’ rodeo, sponsored
by Frontier Ranch Supply, starts at 7 p.m. and includes a stick horse
race and dummy calf roping. Full Story

Potts Camp 5- and 6-year-old boys team, sponsored by Accurate Roofing
and Babco of Potts Camp, remained first place through the preseason
tournament and Marshall County Dizzy Dean League games and finished
with first in the postseason tournament as well. In front, from left,
