Free school immunization clinic offer July 25
Byhalia Family Health Center will host a free immunization clinic on Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Parents are reminded that it is time to get those back-to-school immunizations.
The required Form 121 Compliance Certificate (blue slip) will also be available on July 25 at no charge to the patient.
All children entering a Mississippi public school in any grade for the first time (K4 – 12th grade), including transfers from other states or from private schools, are required to have the following immunizations: five doses of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTaP); four doses of polio vaccine; three doses of hepatitis B; two doses of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR); and two doses of Varicella (chickenpox) if the child does not have a history of having had the chickenpox.
Other immunizations recommended by the Mississippi State Department of Health available at Byhalia Family Health Center and Mt. Pleasant Family Health Clinic are hepatitis A vaccine (two doses, six months apart after the first birthday), the Menectra vaccine (meningitis shot, recommended 11-18 years of age; especially recommended for college bound students), and the Gardisil vaccine (young ladies 9-18 years old).
Byhalia Family Health Center is hosting the immunization clinic at no charge to the patient to better serve the parents and children of the service area. The special free immunization clinic will be held on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. at the Byhalia site. No appointment will be necessary for immunizations only.
Parents are reminded to bring their child’s immunization record with them.
Parents who bring their child in for shots and/or blue slip during the special immunization clinic hours will have the opportunity to register for a Wal-Mart gift card. Dr. Clifton Rodgers, clinical director, also reminds parents that it’s a good idea for children to have a well-child examination or their sports physical.
