Grand opening Monday for new police station
A
grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting to celebrate the new Holly
Springs police headquarters on J.M. Ash Drive will be held Monday, June
29.
A ribbon cutting is set for 10 a.m. and the facilities
will
be open for touring from then until 2 p.m., according to chief Robert
Pearson.
The public is encouraged to attend the grand opening and
to receive an informative tour of the new police station.
Hill Country Picnic set for this weekend
The North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic will be held
this weekend, June 26-27.
The
annual festival takes place on an 1,100-acre site in the rolling hills
of Potts Camp. The two-day event runs from noon until after midnight
both days.
Local vendors offer typical North Mississippi cuisine,
including barbecue, catfish, and watermelon.
The
festival, the brainchild of Potts Camp’s Kenny Brown, features artists
with close ties to North Mississippi Hill Country blues.
Holly Springs police investigate burglaries
Officers
with the Holly Springs Police Department investigated three burglaries
for the week ending June 22, according to chief Robert Pearson.
A
1999 black Chevrolet Z-71 pickup was broken into in the 600 block of
Salem Avenue Tuesday, June 16. An iPOD was taken from the vehicle.
Officers
responded to a burglary call in the 200 block of Martin Luther King
Drive Wednesday, June 17. A Dell and a Toshiba laptop computer, one
gray Nokia N96 cell phone and one Sony camera were reported missing.
The Nokia was recovered.
Officials investigated a burglary
report in the 400 block of South Maury Friday, June 19. Nothing was
missing from the residence.
Officers made one arrest for the
week. Frankie Beatrice Williams, 41, of Oxford, was arrested and
charged with possession of contraband in a correctional facility
Sunday, June 21.

for the week - Driving while license suspended, 2; no
driver’s
license, 2; no proof of insurance, 2; seatbelt violation, 1; child
restraint, 2; expired tag, 1; possession of a controlled substance, 1;
disregard for traffic device, 1; driving under the influence, 2;
malicious mischief, 1; trespassing, 2; false information, 1; speeding,

Reminder – All dog licenses are to be renewed at the
police station in June.
