I’m guessing it was my 20th Mississippi Press Association Summer Convention.

Last weekend in Biloxi someone asked me, “How many?”

I told them I think I’d missed a couple since my first in 1987.

Lack of AC is cruel

Summer has arrived with a vengeance. After our cool, rainy spring the hot, dry heat is just not making me happy.

Our oldest granddaughter commented recently that the sky was blue instead of gray and she was sick of rain. Then, she asked me if I felt the same.

I had to say no -- I love rain, even when I complain about it, which isn’t often.

VBS is an exciting few days for ‘our’ three churches

Since last we met there has been a Vacation Bible School at our place, with the Methodists and Episcopalians joining forces to get the job done. I’m exhausted, and I really did not have hard work! Those who led the singing, supervised the play, prepared the refreshments, told the stories, made the crafts, cleaned up, and otherwise bore the heat of the day must be in bed recovering. It was an exciting few days!

Deployed to Iraq for second tour

Sgt. David Andrew Busby of DeSoto County said his goodbyes to his family June 13. He is an employee of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Departmant and the son of Deanna Lemm of Olive Branch and Chuck Busby of Barton. Andy is the son-in-law of Billy and Lessie Bailey of Byhalia. He is on his second tour of duty to Iraq with the Mississippi Army National Guard, 155th 2/198th C Company, out of Oxford. Andy is married to BJ Busby and they have two children, Hayli Grace and Silas Andrew.
