Marshall County Humane Society News Scam artists preying on animal lovers Scam
artists often prey on tender-hearted people. Recently the Marshall
County Humane Society has received several reports that animal lovers
are being targeted. The usual scenario involves placing an ad asking
for help rescuing an animal. A kind person responds and is told there
is a Doberman in Nigeria or a Yorkie in Zimbabwe. A church is trying
to get the animal to the United Stated and they need just a little more
money to get it here. If the person will send the requested amount the
dog will be his. He sends the money but instead of getting the
dog he is told that another expense has popped up. Can he help again?
They keep this up as long as possible and no dog is ever produced. If
you would like to rescue an animal we have some great ones at our
shelter right here in Marshall County. If you are interested in a
particular breed there are rescue groups for almost every breed
imaginable. Make sure you know who you are dealing with. If they
are local but new to you, ask around. Your friends and groups you know
can give you the facts. If they are out of the area call the Better
Business Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce or the Humane Society in their
area. Be wary and make sure your pet dollars don’t get misdirected. For an appointment at the Marshall County Humane Society sponsored, low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic call 662-252-6196.
