Bolden named to All-MPSA team
The accolades keep rolling in for Marshall
Academy’s Hunter Bolden. After a spring in which he was named District 1- AA most valuable player and Mississippi Private School Association All Star, Bolden received word that he has also been chosen as first team All- MPSA.
Only 13 players from all classifications, A-AAA, were selected with five coming from AA schools. Joining Bolden on the first team from District 1-AA was Garrett Radicioni from Lee (Clarksdale).
“This is a great honor for Hunter,” said Johnny Ray, head baseball coach at Marshall. “It is just the icing on the cake for how hard he has worked to get to this point in his athletic career. Replacing him not only in our lineup but as a team leader is going to be a chore.”
In his senior campaign, Bolden tallied a .386 batting average while leading the team in triples (four), home runs (seven), and RBI (41). He also had 10 doubles and was a perfect 12 for 12 in stolen bases.
Bolden is playing this summer in the newly formed Cotton States League in North Mississippi. He is playing for the Golden Triangle Jets, coached by former Mississippi State star Jeff Hunter.
The league is made up of mostly college players but have a few 2009 graduates who will be playing at the college level in the fall. Games are played at the Sportsplex in New Albany. Bolden has narrowed his college choices to East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi Delta Community College.
