All-state playerTraci Rodgers, a 2009 graduate of Marshall Academy,
was recently named to The Clarion-Ledger’s All-State Softball First
Team. Rodgers, a center fielder, was a key ingredient in the Lady
Patriots’ successful season, which included a second straight Class AA
state championship and a first-ever Mississippi Private School
Association overall crown. Rodgers was one of only two MPSA players
selected to the 12-member first team. The others are from public
schools. The Clarion-Ledger staff wrote – “Led the Lady Patriots to the
academy overall championship with a .348 batting average, .534 on base
percentage, 23 RBIs and errorless play in centerfield.” Susan Rodgers,
softball coach at MA, said, “Nothing ever got past her in the outfield.
If a ball is hit anywhere near her, it’s an out.”
