John Allen Burcham John Allen Burcham, 84, of Somerville, Tenn., died May 23,
2009 at his home. He was a member of Somerville Church of Christ and
employed with Wonder Bread. Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 26 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Leo Powell
and Bro. Chris Coil officiated. He leaves his wife, Clara Burcham; two sons, Jerry Burcham of
Memphis, Tenn., Ted Burcham of McKinney, Tx.; two sisters, Louise
Caldwell of Eads, Tenn., Bernice Saddix of Atoka, Tenn.; four
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Laura W. Hoover Laura W. Hoover, 94, of Ashland, died May 27, 2009 at
Community Hospice, Inc. in Verona. She was the widow of Otho Hoover and
a member of Ashland Baptist Church. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 29 at Liberty
Cemetery in Ashland. Bro. William Kemp officiated. Holly Springs
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves a son, Charles Hoover of Senatobia; two nieces,
Linda Austin of Germantown, Tenn., Sandra Lee of Cordova, Tenn.; three
caregivers, Ruby Smith, Sara Lambert, Sue Stewart; and two
grandchildren, Chip Hoover of Birmingham, Ala., Benton Hoover of Yazoo
City.
Herman Boyce Jordan Herman Boyce Jordan, 81, of Ashland, died May 29, 2009 at his
home. He was the widower of Carolyn Stroupe Jordan, a member of Ashland
Baptist Church a merchant in furniture and appliances, former mayor and
former alderman of Ashland, member of Benton County Fair board and
business owner. Services were held at 3 p.m. on June 1 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Dr. Curtis Ferrell
officiated. He leaves a son, Kelly Jordan of Holly Springs; a sister,
Dorothy Kirk of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tiney Mae Melton. Pallbearers were Brian Jeanes, Don Jeanes, Danny Jeanes, Floyd
Roberson Jr., Hoyt Johnson, Mitch Carroll, Bobby Miller and Scott
Griffith.
McCurn Lesure Jr. McCurn (Junior) Lesure Jr., 70, of Holly Springs, died May 23,
2009 at his home. He was a member of Cedar Grove MB Church and a
retired heavy machine operator with Frisco-Burlington Northern
Railroad.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 30 at Anderson Chapel CME
Church. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Charles Lesure
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. He leaves four children, Charles Lesure of Olive Branch,
Anthony Lesure, Barbara Terry, Cedria Pegues, all of Holly Springs; two
sisters, Mae Nora Nailer, Veola Walls, both of Aurora, Ill.; four
brothers, Russell Lesure Sr., Johnny Lesure Sr., Tracy Lesure, all of
Aurora, Ill., Joseph Lesure Sr. of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Martin Vinson, Jerry Holloway, Tracy
Reynolds, Greg Evans, Marc Scales, Lester Mull and Travis Isom.
Honorary pallbearers were David Caldwell, Lee Taylor, Lee Pegues,
Author Cowan, Willie Mason, Charles Terry, Jimmy Young, Henry Naylor,
Clyde Boga and Gilbert Lowe.
Rebecca Sue Old Rebecca Sue Old, 56, of Holly Springs, died May 30, 2009 at
Baptist Memphis Hospital. She was a retired lab technician. Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 2 at First Baptist Church
of Holly Springs, where she was a member. Dr. Curtis Ferrell
officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves her husband, Thomas Q. Old; a son, Michael Allen
Old of Holly Springs; a daughter, Sarah Smith of Abbeville; three
brothers, Michael Raggio of Grass Valley, Calif., Steven Raggio of
Louisville, Ky., Ron Raggio of Vicksburg; three sisters, Judy Blythe of
Memphis, Tenn., Connie Smith, Sheila Williams, both of Baldwyn; and one
grandchild. Memorials may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Gary Don Wilkins Gary Don Wilkins, of Donaphin, Mo., formerly of Byhalia, died
May 24, 2009. He leaves his mother, Doris; six brothers Mitch, Mike, Junior,
Timmie, Richie, Cody; and a sister, Joanie. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Wilkins. A benefit horse show is in the process of being set up to help

Alliance HealthCare System. He was employed with GEO Correctional
Facility in Holly Springs in transportation. He served 18 years on
Potts Camp Fire Department; he served 1-1/2 years as chief before
retiring for medical reasons. Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 29 at Calvary Baptist
Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Temperance Hill Cemetery
in Potts Camp. Bro. Jerry Moore officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements. He leaves his wife, Tracie Fair Pruitt; a son, Jonathan
Michael Pruitt of Potts Camp; a daughter, Cheyenne Nicole Pruitt of
Potts Camp; his mother, Louise L. Pruitt of Potts Camp; three brothers,
Danny Jackson of Oblong, Ill., Jimmy Jackson of Southaven, Dale Jackson
of Holly Springs; and three sisters, Betty Echols of New Braunfels,
Tx., Bonnie Gurley of Potts Camp, Janice Marsh of Batesville, Ark.

T.C. Sanderson, 73, of Holly Springs, died May 23, 2009 at
Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was the widower of Ethel
Stockard Stockerson and a retired factory worker. Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 30 at Union Valley MB
Church in Byhalia, where he was a member. Burial was in the church
cemetery. Rev. Joe Richmond officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves three daughters, Betty Sanderson, Eloise Sanderson
Goodwin, Tony Sanderson, all of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, T.C. Sanderson
Jr. of Marco, Fla., Arnold Sanderson of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters,
Cleo Phillips of Byhalia, Willie Jean Swift of Memphis, Tenn.; two
brothers, Earnest Sanderson of Chicago, Ill., Joe Sanderson of St.
Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bro. M.L. Phillips, Bro. Joseph Echols, Bro.

David Jamar Sims Jr. David Jamar Sims Jr., 3 days old, of Holly Springs, died May
24, 2009 at Methodist Hospital, Germantown, Tenn. He leaves his mother and father, Sherise Jones and David J.
Sims Sr. of Holly Springs; a brother, Jaylen Sims; grandparents, Peggy
Jones, Johnny Ray Wilson, Delores Sims, David Sims; and
great-grandparents, James Henry Jones, Irene Jones, Starling Nunnally,
Lula Kate Nunnally. Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. at Isom Chapel CME
Church Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
