McAlexander of Holly Springs was inducted into the Mississippi School
Nurse Hall of Fame after 58 years of nursing. Two of her grandchildren
are pictured with her at the 2009 awards banquet, held at Harrah’s

Rogers McAlexander of Holly Springs was inducted into the Mississippi
School Nurse Association Hall of Fame at a banquet held on April 16. Among
those attending were Kenny and Diane Dickerson, Bobby and Martha
McAlexander, Larry and Farrah McAlexander, Doug and Lyla McAlexander,
Brenda Bailey and children Logan, Bailey and Brooke Lambert; Emmily
Hurdle, school nurse for Marshall County, with her lovely daughter
Valerie, and Sue Thomas. McAlexander’s daughter
Brenda was asked to introduce her mother and gave a wonderful life
history and her mother’s ventures as a registered nurse. Brenda worked
with her mother for 17 years in the school district and also worked
alongside her at the Marshall County Hospital. The
school nurse association presented McAlexander a crystal clock and her
five children presented her with a bouquet of red roses. McAlexander’s
husband Bob died in 1990. She has 13 grandchildren and 12-1/2
great-grandchildren. She is very active in the Holly Springs Pilot Club
and the Town and Country Garden Club and works up many of the blood
drives in North Mississippi. She is a member of Red Banks Baptist
Church, enjoys doing yard work and still keeps the family of 43-1/2
going. She has worked under three different Marshall County School superintendents and retired in 2007.
